Please refer your Rental Agreement and Lease which states: Landlord may remove and dispose of such items left on the Premises at termination of this Lease without liability to Resident, and Resident shall pay to Landlord a fee, which is Landlord’s actual cost for removal of such items, which is currently $50 per hour per laborer.  For additional information regarding check-out procedures and holding over please refer to sections 18 and 20 of the Rental Agreement and Lease respectively.

Tue, May 18 2010 - Avoiding Charges at Move-out

Tips to Avoid Additional Charges At Move-Out

1)    Thoroughly clean oven and stovetop inside & out (don’t forget underneath the stovetop).  Make sure to replace drip pans.

2)    Remove all items from refrigerator & freezer and completely clean.  Make sure to leave fridge ON.  Check behind the fridge too!

3)    Remove rust stains from inside the dishwasher - run Iron Outor CLRthrough it until it is clean.

4)    Make sure to leave ice trays, the broiler pan and the microwave rack you were provided (if they were present upon your move-in).  Make sure they are clean.  Also, leave appliance manuals on the counter.

5)    Wipe down all surfaces in the kitchen, laundry area (if applicable) and bathroom(s) including:  fronts and tops of all appliances, sinks, countertops, shelves, etc.

6)    Remove all items from cabinets/drawers and completely clean, making sure to remove all sticky stuff and food debris in both the kitchen and bathroom(s).

7)    Sweep & Mop kitchen and bathroom floors.

8)   Clean bathtub, shower, and toilet(s) thoroughly.

9)   Vacuum all carpets in the living room, bedrooms and hallways including under all furniture.

10) Wipe off all heater vents & thermostats.

11)  Return any furniture/beds/dressers/blinds/doors that you may have removed.  Make sure they are clean.

12) Clean ALL light fixtures (wipe out the dead bugs!) and wipe down the fan blades.  Make sure all bulbs are working when you leave.  You will be charged for replacement of burned out bulbs.

13) Clean all dirt, handprints, cobwebs, etc. off walls, doors and ceilings.

14) Dust top & inside of all closets, door frames and baseboards.

15) Clean out dresser drawers and dust/scrub outside of dresser to remove any dirt.

16) Remove all personal items/trash/extra furniture/food from your apartment and the balcony/porch, if applicable.

17)  Do not leave any trash in the hallways or on the exterior of the buildings.

18) Be sure all utility bills are paid through the LAST day of your lease.  Also, remember to leave a forwarding address for all utility companies.

19) Turn off all lights and lock your door behind you when you leave.

20)  Bring all keys, parking permits and forwarding addresses to the leasing office.  Pay all past due account balances.
