  • How to End the Semester on the Right Note

Welcome to April, the month that signals the beginning of the end of a (hopefully) great semester! Gear down for a successful last few weeks of studying, completing projects, taking tests, and balancing all other parts of your busy life by trying out these simple tips for ending the semester on the right note.

Make a schedule. Having a clear idea of what you need to do and when is the first step to managing your time effectively and enabling yourself to take action when you need to. Write out a schedule in whatever way works best for you. For things you want extra time to be reminded of, set alarms for the day or morning before a due date so you can have plenty of time to accomplish it without panicking.

Set aside time to do schoolwork and fun activities. Stay sane during this chaotic time by letting yourself stay productive and happy. Stay in control of your schedule. It’s much easier to relax when you know you’ve done a good amount of studying (not necessarily endless hours of cramming) for the day. Write down or put in your phone ideas and tasks that come to mind when you’re having fun so you can get these stressors out of your mind but know you won’t forget it later.

Get help from professors and peers. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. If you’re unable to understand something from a textbook or your own notes, address your questions by asking someone who might be able to help you. You may feel like it’s a hassle to bother your professors, who probably have a lot of questions piling up in their inboxes this time of year, but they’re there to help you, and they would most likely rather you embrace an opportunity to learn than sweep it aside. You can also improve relationships and learn a lot by reaching out to a classmate, so take a few minutes to do so, in person or by email. The stress of not knowing something can be alleviated with just a little bit of effort.

Remember to eat, drink, and sleep! Staying physically strong will definitely help you stay present while you study and take tests. Your health is the most important thing, so take care of yourself! Go to bed early so you can wake up refresh and ready for each day’s challenges. Set yourself up for success by doing these things one day at a time and you’ll be ready to take on finals week, no sweat!
